1. Why charter a yacht for your next holidays?

There are many reasons why chartering a yacht is a great idea. Being on a yacht provides you the freedom to move as you please and see many different places in a relatively short time period. It allows you to enjoy the destination from both land and sea. All of the charters booked through Charter & Dreams are tailor-made to each of our clients’ wishes, with the crew providing the best service at all times. Once you have decided on a destination, together with you and the Captain we will create the perfect cruising itinerary. Rest assured that your privacy on board is guaranteed at all times and the Captain will be able to choose remote anchorages and beaches.

2. Why charter a yacht through a MYBA broker/company?

Booking a yacht through a company and broker that is associated to MYBA, guarantees you, that you are working with a professional broker with high proficiency levels, providing special insurances, contracts, procedures, and security at all times. MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association is an internationally renowned professional organization, founded in 1984, whose members are involved at all levels within the Superyacht Industry. Members of MYBA are widely represented in all fields of brokerage, charter, technical management and construction of large yachts.

MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association guides its Members on the highest ethical and technical standards, ensuring Corporate and Individual Members meet the requirements of the Rules of Conduct. By working with a MYBA Company, yacht owners and charterers can benefit from the safeguards that have been established and be assured they are represented by experienced professionals. Owners and Charterers should always check they are working with a MYBA Company to ensure they have adequate protection.

3. What is the MYBA contract?

The MYBA contract is the most common contract used by all companies associated to MYBA.

The contract has been developed by Maritime Lawyers over the past 20 years and guarantees both our clients and the owners of the yachts that all eventualities are covered at all stages.

4. When do I transfer the funds?

Once you have chosen the perfect yacht with your broker and the contract is signed, the first Instalment (50% of the Charter Fee) is due for payment. The remaining 50%, VAT and APA are due one-month prior commencement of your charter.

In the case that the contract is signed one month or less prior commencement of the charter, the complete funds, VAT, and APA are due for payment.

5. What is APA?

APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is a payment that is done in order for the crew to provision the yacht before you board with food, drinks, fuel, etc. The average APA is usually between 30-35% of the Charter Fee. The Captain will keep an overview of the costs at all times and will provide you with the final accounts at the end of the charter.

You can also check your accounts with the Captain at all times during the charter. In the event that there is an amount due in your favor, you will be refunded with the amount to the account of your choice. In the event that there is an amount due to the yacht, payment will have to be arranged prior to disembarkation.

6. Is a crew gratuity customary?

Crew Tips are customary but at our clients’ discretion. In the event that you were happy with everything on board, the crew and the service provided, the customary gratuity is between 10 and 15% of the Charter Fee. You can either take care of this directly with the Captain or once you have disembarked through us. the Captain at all times during the charter. In the event that there is an amount due in your favor, you will be refunded with the amount to the account of your choice. In the event that there is an amount due to the yacht, payment will have to be arranged prior to disembarkation.
