The best areas of Formentera to explore by yacht

Formentera is a small paradise with some of the best beaches in the world. One of the advantages hiring a yacht while staying in Ibiza is that you will have the opportunity of getting to the island of Formentera and its surroundings. Thanks to the vast Posidonia vegetation that resides at the bottom of the waters of this island located at the south of Ibiza, the habitat gives way to a surprisingly crystal clear sea that ends up in sea shores of white and fine sand and dunes. Without a doubt, visiting Formentera during your yacht holidays in Ibiza will make you leave with memories of views and sea experiences that will remain forever.

Cala Saona

This might be a just over 140 long beach, but Cala Saona is considered by many as the most beautiful cove of Formentera. Located at the west of the island and thanks to its U shape which creates a solid frame to protect the water from currents, this peaceful beach makes it easy for people to arrive in their charter yacht and take some time to jump in for a relaxed swim or to practice an enjoyable snorkelling experience.

Es Caló des Morts

This small beach discovers the locals side of Formentera. Es Calo is an old traditional fishermen corner of the island that welcomes all those who visit it on board their private or charter boat. Located at the northwest of Formentera, it offers beautiful views of the cliffs La Mola. To make the visit an even more traditional experience, in 2012 the restaurant Es Calo opened its doors and has become a referent of the local fresh fish and meat in Formentera.

Es Pujols

East of Formentera, this is another beautiful sunbathing and swimming place to visit during your yacht charter holidays. Es Pujols offers a different kind of beach, with a mix of sand and rocks that gives way to stunning landscapes.

If you talk to friends or even to the crew in your charter yacht about where to eat in Es Pujols, it is most likely that they recommend Chezz Gerdi, a restaurant that has achieved a perfect fusion of the different Mediterranean styles of Italy and Ibiza-Formentera by designing a menu of creative and delicious Italian dishes and fresh cocktails served by a cool staff, together with a hippie-chic and friendly atmosphere given by tasteful furnishing and sunbathing areas, good music and beautiful views of the surroundings. With the taxi boat service that Ghezz Gerdi offers, this is the perfect choice for disembarking from your charter boat ready to have fun.

Espalmador Island

Espalmador is a small private island that can be found on the way to Formentera from Ibiza and that can only be accessed by sea, which makes it a privileged place to visit for those who decide to charter yachts.
Once you arrive with your yacht, you will be able to enjoy long walks across unspoilt beaches. Usually, people who get to Espalmador take the opportunity to visit and go in the mud lagoon, which is meant to have excellent skin care and antioxidant properties; to follow this natural beauty therapy, visitors go back to the sea to enjoy a relaxing bath before heading back to their yacht.

Illetes Beach

Possibly the epicentre during the summer for famous celebrities on board private and luxury charter yachts. Illetes beach in Formentera is a matchless setting to enjoy a day full of fun, sun, navigation, delicious food and music. It is not strange that this impressive natural frame has become an anchoring point for those who seek luxury and fun on board their charter yacht, as this beach meets all facilities you could ask for: a long white sand beach with turquoise waters that allow to practice many water sport activities, smooth anchoring on board your charter yacht and such an excellent choice of restaurants and chiringuitos, all of them with taxi boat service, that sometimes makes it difficult to choose where to go if you decided to disembark.

Of all the best restaurants, we must highlight the popular Juan y Andrea, a casual beach chiringuito in its beginnings that has become the trendiest place for those who arrive in their charter yachts to taste excellent fresh fish or paellas while seated with your feet on the sand only a few metres away from the seashore. Es Molí de Sal, an old mill that seats over a high rock, is another restaurant chosen by people who want to enjoy high quality food accompanied by striking sea sights. If you are looking for more casual places to have lunch, or just to have a drink and dance, Illetes offers excellent beach clubs such as el Pirata, Beso Beach and Tiburón. The last two invite clients to stay and witness the sunset in an authentic chill-out atmosphere before returning to your yacht.

Migjorn

Located south of Formentera, Migjorn is the biggest beach of the island, which makes it one of the least visited and perfect for those who seek privacy on board their charter yachts. Visitors will be able to enjoy from their boat beautiful views that reach each one of the two ends of the beach, La Mola and Es Cap de Barbaria, which are 5 km away from each other.

A popular place for a nice lunch or to enjoy a refreshing drink is 10.7 Beach Club, considered the best chill-out place by many who disembark their charter yachts to enjoy a quiet and relaxed time as well as good service.
